Hormesis is a characteristic of many biological processes, namely a biphasic or triphasic response to exposure to increasing amounts of a substance or condition. Within the hormetic zone, the biological response to low exposures to toxins and other stressors is generally favorable.
Bone marrow (BM) was for many years primarily regarded as the source of hematopoietic stem cells. In this podcast we discuss current views of the BM stem cell treatment and recent data showing that BM contains not only hematopoietic but also heterogeneous non-hematopoietic stem cells. Stem cells can play a crucial role in delaying the aging process. Stem cells, in combination with anti-aging complementary therapy, can actually create a sort of a shield, which can prevent the effects of aging.
