Stem cells have been shown to be very effective in degenerative arthritis and sports injuries. Arthritis involves the breakdown of articular cartilage as the result of disease and/or damage similar to cartilage damage of sports injuries. Articular cartilage is found particularly in the joints of the body such as hips, knees, shoulders, spine, and pelvis. When the smooth gliding surfaces of the joint are no longer intact, arthritis occurs causing inflammation, pain, swelling and stiffness.
